Dichroic Glass, a multi layer coating, placed on glass by using a technical vacuum deposition process. Quartz Crystal and Metal Oxides are vaporized onto the surface of the glass in the form of a crystal structure. This process creates the transmitted colour to be completely different from the reflective colour.
'Dichroic' has a reflective quality of more than one colour. It has a similar effect to Butterfly Wings, Hummingbird and Kingfishers Feathers. It has depth of colour, which changes when viewed at different angles. Originally designed in the Aeospace industry, it has in more recent years been used in Jewellery design.
